What is Rehabilitation?

Rehabilitation is a term used to describe the methods used to enhance and build on a persons natural recovery.

The process of restoration of skills by a person who has had an illness or injury so as to regain maximum self-sufficiency and function in a normal or as near normal manner as possible

TBL specialises in offering an integrated system of rehabilitation that allows the person to move gradually from a state of high dependence to being as independent as possible at their own pace but with the support and encouragement of a team of highly skilled professionals.

The rehabilitation strategies used are specifically aimed at achieving an optimum level of function for the individual within the home, social or educational environment or the workplace. In other words we will help you to be as independent as you can be in situations that are important and relevant to you.

How do we do this?

We know that for rehabilitation to work it has to be relevant to you and you need to feel part of the whole process.

You also need to feel that it is improving your life and that you are working towards the goals that are important to you.

At TBL we take the time to understand just what is important to you and then we take more time to integrate your needs and wishes into a goal orientated programme which we will help you to monitor and amend as you achieve your steps towards a more independent life.

Who do we work with?

We work with a whole range of professionals and organisations in order to help you maximise your independence. We also work with your family and sometimes your friends and work colleagues to make sure that everyone understands your difficulties. We then provide training to all the people and organisations involved in providing support to you to make sure that the correct approach is used. We will want you to work very closely with your case manager to make sure that we are always working on the best goals for you to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve.

Shadow Case Management is a service we provide to insurers who wish to ensure that case management intervention arranged by the Claimant’s solicitor is providing an efficient and cost effective service.

It is vital to ensure that the case manager is working towards clear goals with progress well documented and utilising all available support services. If this is not the case, the Claimant may well disengage from the rehabilitation process, or may be missing out on invaluable rehabilitation. It is therefore essential for both parties and most importantly, the Claimant, that the case management intervention being implemented is checked and reviewed regularly.

Often it is the role of the care experts brought in to the litigation process to evaluate case management services some way down the line after the initial incident or when case management services have been in place for some time. Valuable time and rehabilitation opportunities are then often lost without such input earlier.

At TBL we can provide clinicians currently working in the field of case management to assist you at various stages throughout the rehabilitation process.

One of our experienced case managers will review the paperwork of the case manager for our insurer clients and prepare a report setting out whether the Claimant is receiving effective and efficient case management. Issues of concern will be identified and recommendations made. The report will then suggest a further review at a time deemed appropriate by the assessor, depending on issues of concern.
