Joy Howard qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2002 from Brighton University. She has experience working in neurological rehabilitation in hospital, in-patient and community settings.

In 2002 Joy began her career, and interest in neurology, working in Kings College Hospital as a Rotational Occupational therapist. She worked in medical, orthopaedics and neuro rotations which resulted in her gaining valuable assessment and treatment skills as well as an excellent working foundation in the occupational Therapy process.

Joy then worked in an inpatient neuro-rehabilitation service at Ipswich Hospital, where she developed her clinical expertise in stroke through the completion of complex neuro assessment and treatment plans to patients in the acute stroke wards. It was a role that involved assessing and treating people experiencing a wide range of difficulties.

From 2010-2014 Joy worked in a variety of senior inpatient neurology rotations in imperial NHS trust as a band 7 occupational therapist. In this trust, she completed rotations in the Acquired Brain Injury Unit (ABIU), Stroke Unit (including hyper acute stroke unit) and in neuro outliers.

In 2014 Joy worked as a Band 7 occupational Therapist in neuro-rehabilitation and complex discharge in St Pancras in London.

More recently Joy has been working as DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) as a Disability Analyst which has given her extensive experience providing accurate assessment of an individuals’ needs and those whose illness is further complicated by mental health difficulties, drug and alcohol misuse, learning disabilities, or complex social circumstances.
