Case Management

Case Management is a process devoted to the coordination, rehabilitation, care and support of people with complex, clinical needs. It aims to facilitate their independence and improve their quality of life; whilst acknowledging safety issues.

Who are Case Managers?

Case Management draws on the involvement and valuable skills of qualified and regulated professionals such as therapists, nurses or social workers.

Case Managers should have a relevant professional qualification and have acquired knowledge and experience of working with clients in either a hospital or community environment. We would look to recruit suitable candidates with experience of working with clients suffering from Spinal Injuries or Traumatic Brain Injuries. We would also look to recruit candidates who have experience of working with children with complex needs and those who have experience of working with clients at the end of life.

What do Case Managers do?

A Case Manager assesses the needs of clients and their families and identifies relevant and cost effective resources which can be made available to them in order to obtain maximum benefit for the client, the family and the budget holder. A plan is prepared and implemented to create a regime individually tailored for each client.


Expert Witness

“Persons with particular knowledge or skill which enables them to give an opinion on the facts in dispute”

He or she is someone who gives an independent opinion on the facts of the case. They are entitled to give that opinion because of their qualifications and experience. They cannot express an opinion without having a foundation of fact.

Tania Brown Ltd provides Expert Care and Occupational Therapy Reports for Solicitors and Insurance companies throughout the UK through our trained and experienced consultants.

Tania Brown Ltd is also a member of the UK Register of Expert Witness.

What you need to be an Expert Witness

You will have at least 8 years relevant clinical experience and preferably still be working in the clinical arena.

Expert Witness consultants need to have the ability to undertake a thorough assessment of our clients care needs and prepare a detailed and comprehensive report for court within agreed timescales. An an Expert Witness working for Tania Brown Ltd you will be required to manage the case through to settlement. This may require you to attend Court to defend your report, to liaise with other professionals and attend at Case Conferences or to prepare a joint statement with the Defendants/Claimants Expert. As an Expert Witness you may be required to travel around the UK and abroad, although we will refer cases to you that require the minimum travel distance. Support Worker

As a support worker you will be required to work under the direction of registered health care professionals and other parties involved from the case manager to the Rehabilitation Assistant to provide a consistent approach in delivering Rehabilitation support. This will include;

  • Work effectively as a member of a team in providing rehabilitation support. This is usually without immediate supervision.
  • Use therapeutic skills to engage clients in therapeutic activities to reduce the impact of impairments, promoting independence and improving well-being.
  • Under supervision of the case manager and the rehabilitation assistant, facilitate and participate in planned activities, ongoing assessment and adjustment of own clinical interventions based on the fluctuating needs of the clients.
  • To teach and Role Model use of Compensatory Aids and systems to clients, optimize the client’s functional ability and independence.
  • Gather and accurately record information about clients.
  • Contribute to formal therapy assessments, under guidance of a registered therapist and provide feedback on the client’s performance.
  • Assist in the implementation, evaluation and modification of clients Care pathway and rehabilitation objectives.
  • Under supervision of your line manager, provide a range of activities; instructing and guiding clients to support them in achieving identified goals.
  • Undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service.
  • Form therapeutic relationships with clients and communicate with them in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture.
  • Report effectively to the team on client’s performance.
  • Ensure that up-to-date written records are maintained with the guidance from the Rehabilitation Assistant/Case manager.
  • Review and reflect on own practice and performance through regular participation in professional supervision and appraisal.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education as dictated by your line manager.
  • Display good time management and reliable punctuality.
  • Incorporate up to date techniques and ideas of best practice into your Job role.
  • To undertake any other appropriate additional duties as required.

We would look to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who have experience of working with clients with complex needs either in a hospital or community setting. Full in house training will be provided for suitable candidates.
