DETAIL

Deanne qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1985. Deanne is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists. Deanne is also a member of the British Pain Society and the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section in Independent Practice.

Following comprehensive clinical experience in two busy general hospitals, initially as a basic grade then later as a Senior Occupational Therapist, Deanne has worked extensively in a community setting taking sole responsibility for the management of a significant number of complex cases.

Deanne’s community experience has been as a Senior Occupational Therapist and also as an Assistant Team Manager of a busy social services department in a metropolitan borough. The department provided assessment, rehabilitation and project management for children and adults in a widely varied socio-economic group. This involved assessing clients in hospital prior to discharge or admittance to a residential or nursing home as well as clients in the community in order to formulate, implement and monitor packages of care according to strict criteria to meet assessed need.

Deanne has been involved in student training in a clinical setting.

Deanne has also gained experience in manual handling training and environmental assessments including liaising with specialist architects.
Deanne joined Tania Brown Ltd Expert Witness, Case Management Services and Rehabilitation Services in 2007 and since that time she has been assessing the needs of disabled clients including children in their own homes or in residential settings and making recommendations regarding care adaptations and equipment.

Since 2008, Deanne has prepared many medico-legal Care and Occupational Therapy Reports for adults and children with a wide variety of physical and psychological disabilities including orthopaedic injuries, amputees, neurological conditions, acquired brain injuries, chronic pain conditions and mesothelioma. In addition, Deanne has extensive experience of preparing Loss of Service Reports.

Deanne has also undertaken a Case Management role, organising care-packages and involved in the rehabilitation of clients with acquired brain injury, setting and reviewing goals as required.

Deanne has also worked in a multidisciplinary team within a large Primary Care Trust. This has involved assessment and treatment planning for adults with a wide variety of medical conditions.

Deanne has extensive experience working as an Advanced Specialist Practitioner in a community-based pain management team within the NHS. During her time working in this role, Deanne was involved in the planning and running of a pain management programme. In addition, she undertook occupational therapy assessments and treatments for people with chronic pain in a clinic setting and in patients’ homes.

Deanne has a particular interest in chronic pain conditions such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

Deanne is an active member of The British Pain Society and has previously served a full term in the role of Secretary for the British Pain Society Pain Management Programme Special Interest Group.
