Jillian Higgins qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1995 from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Jillian has undertaken further education to enhance her skills and knowledge.

Prior to starting her occupational therapy course, Jillian studied to become a medical secretary and worked in the departments of Radiology, Clinical Neurosciences, Clinical Pharmacology, Geriatric Medicine and Anaesthetics. Jillian developed her knowledge of medical terminology, secretarial skills and report writing.

Working as a Case Manager for Tania Brown presents a unique opportunity to blend Jillian’s clinical, academic and leadership skills. Jillian applies her knowledge and expertise to provide effective case management. Jillian’s current case load includes individuals who are living with both complex brain injuries, spinal injuries and significant mental health challenges. This combination presents a unique set of challenges both clinically and administratively working with statutory health and social care providers across physical, mental and neurological services as well as the voluntary and private sector.

Jillian has a strong working knowledge of safeguarding, adults with incapacity, guardianship and ensuring decisions are made in the best interest of the client. Jillian is a skilled assessor and enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team but is also confident to work autonomously and make decisions when required. Jillian believes that building positive therapeutic relationships with clients and their families/informal carers are key to a successful outcome and she strives to achieve the best outcome for all her clients. Demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence, Jillian always shows courtesy, compassion and respect for all persons involved in each individual case.
